Immediately, I realized that teaching brought me to a place where doubt and fear disappear and are replaced by clarity and confidence. An awareness I can only describe as a “knowing” came to me… this is what I’m supposed to do.

This is me.

Profoundly inspired and transformed by the practices of yoga as a longtime student, I enrolled in a teacher training with no intention of actually becoming a yoga teacher; I merely wanted the opportunity to explore, to expand my knowledge and personal practice. I was deeply distressed upon learning of the program’s requirement to teach a public class in order to graduate. I battled mightily against having to do it, and in the process learned just how blind I could be to my own gifts.

Other than mothering my two amazing kiddos, this gig of guiding fellow yogis in asana, breath and philosophy is the most natural thing I’ve ever done. And, I knew it from that first terrifying class. In the space of 90 minutes, my whole world shifted beneath my firmly rooted feet. Immediately, I realized that teaching brought me to a place where doubt and fear disappear and are replaced by clarity and confidence. An awareness I can only describe as a “knowing” came to me… this is what I’m supposed to do. This is me.

That was over 10 years ago and my passion for teaching remains constant, as does my desire to just keep learning. With numerous trainings and a decade of group and private instruction behind me, I’ve discovered my particular talent lies in creating an environment that feels nurturing, a safe place to explore breath, sensation and movement. My classes are light-hearted; stories are told, laughter is shared, and something is learned. I bring my whole self to the art of teaching; everything from the wisdom of my experience to my imperfections are on full display, and I invite my students to do the same. Come as you are… simply be curious and willing to get comfortable with discomfort.
